Host a Food Drive

Food drives organized by schools, businesses, and organizations are critically important as we work to keep our shelves stocked with nutritious food for Yuma County. By hosting a food drive, your group can make a direct and positive impact on families and individuals right here in our community.

Hosting a food drive for the Yuma Community Food Bank is a meaningful way for schools, churches, civic groups, and workplaces to pull together, collect non-perishable food items, and give neighbors facing hunger a real reason for hope. Every item collected helps us deliver 55,000 meals daily across Yuma County.

Who Can Host a Food Drive?

Anyone can make a difference. Food drives are a great fit for:

  • Schools and universities
  • Businesses and workplaces
  • Churches and faith communities
  • Civic organizations and clubs
  • Student groups and college organizations
  • Neighborhoods and community groups

How to Host a Food Drive

Getting started is straightforward. Follow these four steps to run a successful drive for Yuma County families.

1. Plan Your Drive

Choose your dates, set a collection goal, and decide on a drop-off location within your organization. Contact us so we can support you with materials and answer any questions.

2. Promote It

Spread the word through email, flyers, social media, and announcements. Let people know which items are most needed and where to drop them off.

3. Collect Non-Perishable Items

Place collection boxes in visible, accessible spots and encourage participation throughout your drive period. The more locations you set up, the more donations you'll receive.

4. Deliver to the Food Bank

Bring your collected donations to us at 2404 E. 24th St., Yuma, AZ 85365. Reach out ahead of time and we'll help coordinate your drop-off.

Most-Needed Non-Perishable Items

When promoting your drive, point donors toward the items that help us most:

  • Canned vegetables and fruits
  • Canned beans and legumes
  • Canned meat, tuna, and salmon
  • Peanut butter and nut butters
  • Rice, pasta, and grains
  • Cereal, oatmeal, and breakfast items
  • Soups and stews
  • Baby food and infant formula

All donated items should be non-perishable, unopened, and within their expiration date.

Why It Matters

Hunger affects thousands of Yuma County families every year. The Yuma Community Food Bank distributes 55,000 meals daily, five days a week, to keep our neighbors fed. Food drives fill a critical gap, putting nutritious food directly on our shelves when communities rally together.

Your drive, no matter the size, is a big deal to the people we serve. A single food drive at a local school or business can provide hundreds of meals for families who need them most.
